Meet Isabella
Working from her North London studio, once used to store fabric for her Grandparent's clothing factory, Isabella takes her passion for visual storytelling and love of pattern, colour and textures to create beautiful pieces for the home, both under her own name and for an array of inspiring brands.
Isabella's design process always begins with a story and delicate hand-drawings and paintings, rich in colour and narrative. From our most loved childhood tales, capturing the colours and atmosphere from her travels, or delving into the archives of London's Museums, Isabella collects and curates stories to inspire new ideas and collections.
A silk screen obsessive, Isabella's background in printmaking has led her to welcome the hiccups and happy accidents that can accompany her design process. It's this experimental approach to process and strong hand-drawn style that bring these stories to life in spaces.
Once upon a tea time
Grown from Isabella's Italian heritage and family traditions, Isabella's childhood memories of sitting around the dinner table to eat and share stories, was the main inspiration behind her first tableware collection, launched in 2014 and inspired by J.M Barrie's Peter Pan. Isabella's collection of intricately illustrated ceramic tableware and print designs, led her to be selected by Made in Arts London to stock and sell her work in pop-up shops and at markets across London. From there, Isabella's passion for developing beautiful and imaginative homewares under her own name has continued to grow, with Isabella creating collections of home linens and prints for her portfolio and online shop.
Isabella continues to tell stories in spaces with her beautiful products and original designs, and has run her own market stall at London's Canopy Market, King's Cross and Portobello Road (a dream come true for Isabella, who grew up visiting the market as a child every Saturday!) Whilst working full time, creating and leading the development of homeware collections for a number of brands, Isabella continues to keep her own practice alive, most recently working on bespoke orders for tableware and wedding Stationery.
Background
After completing her BA (Hons) Degree in Surface Design at UAL's London College of Communication, Isabella has worked as a Textile Designer, gaining a decade of experience in designing home accessories and leading the development of soft furnishing collections for a portfolio of aspirational lifestyle brands, including Designers Guild, William Morris At Home, Graham & Brown, Orla Kiely and Laura Ashley.
With a strong commercial sense and eye for colour and pattern, Isabella now shares her passion for visual storytelling and for creating beautiful products for the home, on a freelance basis, designing for and consulting clients across the world.
